Custom construction questions

What is the difference between a custom build and a standard remodel?

A standard remodel uses catalog sizes and pre-selected options, and the contractor adapts your home to fit those products. A custom build starts with your space, your goals and the way you want to live, and the layout, materials, finishes and structure are designed and built to match.

Which areas do you serve?

We are based in Stuart and serve Stuart, Port St. Lucie, Palm City, Jensen Beach, Hobe Sound and nearby Treasure Coast communities, including Port Salerno, Sewall's Point and Hutchinson Island.

Do you offer free consultations?

Yes. We walk your space, talk through your goals and explain the options. After that you get a written scope and a clear price before any work starts.

How long does a room addition take?

Most additions take several months from first consultation to finish. Design, engineering and permit review come first and can take weeks to a few months on their own; construction follows once the permit is issued. We give you a realistic timeline during the design phase and keep you informed at every milestone.

How do you coordinate permits and structural work?

Requirements depend on the project and your address. We review the scope, coordinate the appropriate qualified design professionals, licensed trades and permitting steps, and explain responsibilities before construction begins.

Do you publish prices?

No. Custom work varies too much for a fair published price. You get a detailed written scope and a clear price before work starts, with no surprise charges when the build is done.

Can I stay in my home during the project?

In most cases, yes. Additions are built outside the existing walls first, and interior work is phased with dust control and a clear path through the house.

Do you work with HOAs and condo associations?

Yes. Many Treasure Coast communities require architectural review or association approval. We review the rules and prepare the project details they ask for before work is scheduled.

What work do you not do?

HBS does not do roofing, major electrical or major plumbing work. When a project needs those trades, licensed specialists do that part of the work.

What if my project also needs a kitchen or bathroom remodel?

Our parent company, Home & Beyond Services, handles full home remodeling, kitchen remodeling and bathroom renovations. When a custom build is part of a larger renovation, one team coordinates everything.
