Outdoor Kitchens & Entertainment Areas

Outdoor kitchens, grill islands, bars and entertaining spaces designed for the way the Treasure Coast lives outdoors, all year round.

An outdoor kitchen that fits your yard

In Stuart, Palm City and Jensen Beach the backyard is the second living room. A well-planned outdoor kitchen puts the grill, prep space, refrigerator and seating where they work together, out of the way of the pool traffic and protected from the afternoon storm. HBS Custom Renovation designs each outdoor kitchen around your patio, lanai or pool deck, then builds it with materials that stand up to sun and salt air.

What we design and build

  • Grill islands and full outdoor kitchens with built-in grills, side burners, refrigerators and storage.
  • Bars and counter seating for entertaining around the pool or under the lanai.
  • Countertops and cladding in stone, stone veneer, tile or stucco to match your home. See custom stonework and hardscaping.
  • Covered areas, pergolas and decks so the kitchen is usable in the rain. See sunrooms and outdoor living.
  • Lighting and outlets planned into the design and installed by licensed electricians.

Built for salt air and storms

Materials matter more outside than in. Near the ocean or the Indian River Lagoon, marine-grade 316 stainless steel holds up better than 304 against salt air. Cabinet boxes should be stainless, masonry or polymer rather than wood, and countertops need to handle direct sun. Under a covered lanai, the grill's position and ventilation have to be planned for heat and smoke. We also plan how the area drains so water does not pool against the house.

Gas, electrical and permits

New gas lines and electrical circuits need permits and are installed by licensed gas and electrical contractors. Structures such as pergolas and covered roofs need wind-load engineering. Permits are pulled by the appropriately licensed contractor for each trade, and HBS coordinates those trades as part of your project. Who holds each permit is written into your scope before work starts.

Questions homeowners ask

Natural gas, propane or electric for an outdoor kitchen?

It depends on what your home already has. Natural gas is convenient where a line is available, propane works anywhere with a tank, and electric grills suit some condos and covered spaces. We plan around what is safe and allowed at your address.

Can an outdoor kitchen go under my existing lanai?

Often, yes, if the grill can be placed with safe clearances and the roof can be ventilated for heat and smoke. We check the structure and clearances during the consultation.

Which countertop is best outdoors in Florida?

Granite and other dense natural stones hold up well in sun and heat. Some engineered quartz products can fade or discolor in direct UV, so we confirm the manufacturer allows outdoor use before recommending one.

How long does an outdoor kitchen take?

A grill island can take a few days to build once materials arrive; a full kitchen with gas, electrical, a roof or a deck takes longer and depends on permit timing. You get a timeline during design.
